Alan started Riggs Construction Company in 1980. As a custom home builder, he began building large custom homes that range in size from 3,500 square feet to 10,000 square feet. His passion was to build the best home that he could for his clients. He built multiple homes for satisfied customers over the years. Building very complicated homes are what he enjoys most. Riggs Construction was well known through-out the community with 100% of the new homes built coming from referrals of satisfied customers.

In 1988 he was introduced to the Ministry of Habitat for Humanity. In the fall of 1988, he served as Blitz Boss on the first home to be built in 5 days in the Tri-City area. Since that time, he has been involved in building 100’s of the Habitat homes all over the United States.

In 1995, he started developing Preston Park Subdivision in Kingsport TN, building many of the homes. The final phrase of Preston Park is being sold now. That phrase is called The Summit at Preston Park. The Summit is being developed by Vic Davis Construction and 25 lots are for sale.

Alan and his wife, Debbie, have two children and six grandchildren. They enjoy time on the farm and visiting the grandchildren who are 13 years old down to 1 year.
